Statement on Sales to Russia
Since 24 February 2022, Merejka has terminated cooperation with its official representative in the Russian Federation and ceased all sales of cross-stitch kits to Russia. This decision was made in response to the military aggression and as a matter of principle.
Since then, we have not sold our products to this market. We have identified multiple attempts by Russia-affiliated companies to purchase our kits, as well as EU-based intermediaries seeking to buy wholesale quantities for resale into Russia. All business partners have been formally notified that any confirmed involvement in such resale will result in immediate termination of cooperation. To date, we have identified and discontinued partnerships with two such wholesale resellers (in Germany and Spain).
Despite these measures, complete isolation is not fully achievable. Small-scale resellers continue to purchase limited quantities and redirect them to Russian marketplaces and online communities. This grey import activity is beyond our direct control, often bypasses taxation, and may result in retail prices below our recommended levels. Due to the fragmented nature of such purchases and extended logistics chains, effective tracking is not feasible.
We emphasize that Merejka does not seek, support, or initiate any business relationships with Russian retailers. We do not intend for our products to be sold in Russia. Grey market redistribution remains an unintended and undesirable side effect of our withdrawal, for which there is currently no fully effective enforcement mechanism.
We appreciate your understanding.
